Yay, yay! I’m finally finished, and here it is!!
Welcome to La Joie Photography, and the new blogsite! I can’t wait to hear what you all think! I’ve had a blast with the design and work of getting a new blog and name!! (Yeah, sometimes I did get tired of sitting in front of Photoshop when I’d tried every color for a background theme and I still couldn’t decide which I liked, but those times only lasted a few minutes. ;D)
Some of you might be wondering why or how I came up with the name ‘La Joie Photography.’ No, I didn’t have a dream or revelation, I just began thinking that I would like something more than the photographer’s name on my business. So I started asking myself “what do I want?” I wanted something unique, something that expressed happiness, and something that reflected my style. Then I had the idea – what if I found a single word I liked and translated it into another language?! So, out came my notebook and I started writing down words like bliss, happiness, imagine, dream, delight, lovely, smile, and… the list went on. Then off I went to Google’s handy translator and started putting in words, trying each in a few different languages. (You should see how hilarious or just plain weird some words can be in say, Latin or Italin! I mean, who would want to name their business ‘Beatitudinis Photography’ … that’s bliss in Latin. ;D Or aren’t you glad I didn’t use the Italian word for joy?? If I had, you’d see ‘Gioia’ rather than ‘La Joie’.) After translating loads of words, I had a pretty good list of words that were nice. Some I quickly crossed off as they just didn’t “fit” my photography, others seemed like they could fit, but la joie I loved! Here and there I thought of other names, more in other languages, then some in English too (like ‘Whisper On The Breeze’) but I always came back to la joie, and the more I thought about it, the more I fell in love with it until I knew La Joie had to be the name! There is the story of how I changed my name from ‘Ruth Ueland Photography’ to ‘La Joie Photography.’ :)
Sooo… What do you think of La Joie? How do you like the blogsite? I want to hear, I want to hear!! :)
~Ruth
P.S. A thank you to my lovely younger sister who took some of the welcome shots!
