{Lorin & Tessa}

Lorin & Tessa were married on a beautiful June day! I shot their wedding with my sister-in-law, Heather. Their wedding day was so bright and happy!! They are a darling couple – and fun – I was grateful to have the opportunity of capturing their wedding day. :)

Enjoy the photos!

{Miriam ~ The Little Pink Dress}

Little girls are precious gifts, wrapped in love serene. Their dresses tied with sashes and futures tied with dreams.

{Ben & Carrie}

Here are photos from the 2nd sister and brother’s wedding, two days after Josh & Annie! :) Ben & Carrie had a beautiful wedding day. It was chilly outside, but despite shivers and bundling up between the outdoor shots, we got some awesome photos!

Like I said in my previous post, I did Ben & Carrie’s along with my friend and fellow photographer, Jon. He’s a lot of fun to work with and I like how our styles balance out when we work together! :)

Have fun looking at the photos!

{Josh & Annie}

I did Josh & Annie’s wedding along with my friend and fellow photographer, Jon. It was a lovely March day (as long as we forget about the wind). :D Annie brought some fun props to use in the photos. I loved the “vintage flair” her wedding had, of course, since I’m crazy about anything vintage!!

There was double fun in this wedding…the maid of honor was Annie’s sister, Carrie, and Josh’s best man was his brother, Ben, But!… the fun thing was, two days later Carrie and Ben got married!! Two sisters, married two brothers, two days apart. :D (I also did the photography with Jon at Ben & Carrie’s wedding and will be posting those images soon!)

Enjoy the photos!!

{Treasure ~ 2011 Senior}

It was sooo much fun doing Treasure’s senior photos!! I think we both had a blast. Treasure was so creative and had lots of great ideas to try.  And! I got to use my new props – old luggage!!! We had some fun with those suitcases. ;D

Enjoy the photos!!

{Donnie – 2011 Senior}

… So, at the end of this shoot I told Donnie he’d be ready to make the cover for his first country album. haha! It was a blast and I was really happy with how everything turned out despite shivers and numb fingers!! (It was like 48 degree that day!! :O)

… and that was the end of Donnie. At least we got a great shot, hey?? Just kidddding!!

This is proof that he got off the tracks in time. ;D

{Sarah ~ 2011 Senior}

Sarah was a lot of fun to work with! It was a beautiful day, except for the wind – we saw over and over that hair and the wind aren’t good friends. ;) But! We were able to work around it, and I was so happy with the shots we got.

Enjoy the photos! (And can you tell I have this antique-ish effect fascination?! haha!)

{Jason & Autumn ~ wedding}

Jason & Autumn’s wedding was lovely! My sister-in-law, Heather, and I shot it together. It was a blast working beside her. Jason & Autumn have been friends of mine for years, and of course Heather has gotten to know them well since becoming a part of my family! :D

They were married in January, but you would have thought it was Spring with the beautiful weather we had!! Nope, no numb fingers and red noses after we were finished with the photos outdoors!! 60 degrees in January truly is awesome.

Enjoy the photos! ~Ruth

{Welcome}

Yay, yay! I’m finally finished, and here it is!!

Welcome to La Joie Photography, and the new blogsite! I can’t wait to hear what you all think! I’ve had a blast with the design and work of getting a new blog and name!! (Yeah, sometimes I did get tired of sitting in front of Photoshop when I’d tried every color for a background theme and I still couldn’t decide which I liked, but those times only lasted a few minutes. ;D)

Some of you might be wondering why or how I came up with the name ‘La Joie Photography.’ No, I didn’t have a dream or revelation, I just began thinking that I would like something more than the photographer’s name on my business. So I started asking myself “what do I want?” I wanted something unique, something that expressed happiness, and something that reflected my style. Then I had the idea – what if I found a single word I liked and translated it into another language?! So, out came my notebook and I started writing down words like bliss, happiness, imagine, dream, delight, lovely, smile, and… the list went on. Then off I went to Google’s handy translator and started putting in words, trying each in a few different languages. (You should see how hilarious or just plain weird some words can be in say, Latin or Italin! I mean, who would want to name their business ‘Beatitudinis Photography’ … that’s bliss in Latin. ;D Or aren’t you glad I didn’t use the Italian word for joy?? If I had, you’d see ‘Gioia’ rather than ‘La Joie’.) After translating loads of words, I had a pretty good list of words that were nice. Some I quickly crossed off as they just didn’t “fit” my photography, others seemed like they could fit, but la joie I loved! Here and there I thought of other names, more in other languages, then some in English too (like ‘Whisper On The Breeze’) but I always came back to la joie, and the more I thought about it, the more I fell in love with it until I knew La Joie had to be the name! There is the story of how I changed my name from ‘Ruth Ueland Photography’ to ‘La Joie Photography.’ :)

Sooo… What do you think of La Joie? How do you like the blogsite? I want to hear, I want to hear!! :)

P.S. A thank you to my lovely younger sister who took some of the welcome shots!

{Joshua & Amy}

On a warm, beautiful August day my dear friend Amy was married! And I got to be her photographer! Her and Josh are a such a cute couple! Amy isn’t short, but she may look small next to Josh since he’s 6′ 9″. :D Their wedding was at a small outdoor, country chapel. So perfect! (Outdoor weddings are just… well, the best!)

Guess what!! Amy has a baby on the way… and me and my friend Jana are planning a baby shower for her! I’m so excited and have so many fun ideas for the decor. that I want to “try out.” I’m sure I will post photos of it for all to see. ;D
